In honor of the Gundam fan celebrated “Zaku Day”, the official Twitter account for Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island have announced that Bandai Spirits will be releasing High Grade Universal Century line Gundam model kits of the film’s primary mobile suits through Premium Bandai.
More information of the HG 1/144 RX-78-02 Gundam(Cucuruz Doan’s Island ver.) and HG 1/144 Doan’s Zaku will be released at a later date.
RX-78-02 Gundam is prototype close combat mobile suit of the Earth Federation Forces, piloted by Amuro Ray. It was modified when White Base arrived at Jaburo, the headquarters of the Earth Federation Forces, becoming a Middle type. The main changes include the incorporation of a core pod into the body unit, and the Shoulder Magnum on the left shoulder has been replaced with a Vulcan cannon, as has the right shoulder. It’s used in a mission to mop up Zeon remnants after the destruction of the Earth Federation Forces MS units on an uninhabited island, but after a battle with Doan’s Zaku the machine is lost.
MS-06F Doan’s Zaku is Cucuruz Doan piloted when he led the Principality of Zeon’s Southern Cross Corps. Since he escaped during the invasion of Earth, he recovered parts from the machine of a defeated opponent and used them to repair the mobile suit himself. As a result, some of the armor remains detached, and there are many asymmetrical parts. It usually hides to protect life on the island, but it’s used to intercept and neutralize foreign enemies, both the Earth Federation Forces and the Principality of Zeon alike, when they arrive.
