Bandai Namco’s hobby business subsidiary, Bandai Spirits has announced the release of the AMS-119 Geara Doga(Axis Shock Image Color) appearing in the High Grade Universal Century line of Gundam model kits.
Designed by Yutaka Izubuchi, this version of the AMS-119 Geara Doga depicts the climactic scene from the Char’s Counterattack film, when multiple RGM-89 Jegans, along with AMS-119 Geara Dogas and Amuro Ray in his RX-93 Nu Gundam are trying to push back the Neo Zeon asteroid base Axis, and are enveloped in the aura of the Axis Shock.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack released to theaters in March 1988, directed by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino, with character designs by Hiroyuki Kitazume, mobile suit designs by Yutaka Izubuchi, and mechanical designs by Yoshinori Sayama and GAINAX. Shigeaki Saegusa returned from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ to compose the music. Char’s Counterattack grossed 1.16 billion yen at the box office.
Story
One man against the Earth…
Universal Century 0093. Thirteen years have passed since the events of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. But the foundations of peace are once again threatened by a new Neo Zeon army led by the notorious Char Aznable! Their ultimate goal is to initiate a nuclear winter upon Earth ushering in a new age of mankind into space. Armed with the state of the art Nu Gundam mobile suit, Amuro Ray and the Federation forces are all that stand against Neo Zeon. Driven by vengeance, duty and love, the final battle between rivals Char Aznable and Amuro Ray is at hand.
This version of HGUC 1/144 Geara Doga is reproduced in a golden hue inspired by the aforementioned scene in the film where Geara Dogas join the Nu Gundam and tries to push back Axis. The model kit has been molded with new golden metallic colors, reminiscent of the scene, along with its polycaps. Included will be the Beam Machine Gun, Beam Axe with two types of beam shape clear parts, four Sturm Fausts, and a shield that with a collapsible mechanism.
The HGUC 1/144 Geara Doga (Axis Shock Image Color) is priced at 2,090 yen with a February 23, 2024 release date, to be sold at Gundam Park Fukuoka‘s Gundam Side-F in advance.
