Bandai Namco Filmworks Files Gundam Trademarks ‘Silver Phantom’ and ‘Requiem for Vengeance’



Anime production and distribution company Bandai Namco Filmworks, responsible for spearheading the Gundam franchise, has filed two new Gundam trademarks with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for the franchise. Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom was filed May 24, 2023 and Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance on May 26, 2023.

No further information has been provided but a graphic was included with the filing for Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. The Gundam franchise is celebrating its 45th anniversary next year so we should be hearing about exciting projects coming up for the franchise.

In February 2022, it was announced in a press release by Sunrise and its parent Bandai Namco Holdings, the pioneering Gundam and mecha anime studio would be reorganized under Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc. The new company merges Sunrise, the film division of Bandai Namco Arts, and Bandai Namco Rights Marketing, with Sunrise as the surviving company. Bandai Namco Filmworks was stated to have the responsibility as the business management company in Bandai Namco’s IP Production Unit. The new company began operating April 1, 2022.
