Gundam: Silver Phantom ‘Work In Progress’ Panel announced for Annecy Animation Film Festival

Bandai Namco Filmworks(Sunrise) have announced they will be holding a “Work in Progress” session for their upcoming VR anime film project, Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom, for the renowned French animation film festival Annecy.

This session will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11:15 AM CET and will feature key creatives including Kenichi Suzuki, the visionary director behind the project; Ken Iyadomi, producer at Bandai Namco Filmworks; Gaël Chaize, Technical Art Director at Albyon; and Vincent Dudouet, Producer at Albyon. The discussion will be moderated by esteemed industry expert, Mathieu Gayet. Together, they will delve into the creative and technical challenges of converting a storied anime franchise into a pioneering VR experience.

Attendees of the session will gain unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the creative process and technical innovation involved in bringing Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom to life.

Silver Phantom was formally announced in November 2023 at Anime NYC as a co-production between Bandai Namco Filmworks and French virtual reality (VR) production company Atlas V for Meta Quest.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom represents a new frontier for the iconic series, integrating immersive VR technology to create a cinematic story where fans can engage interactively. Set in Universal Century 0096, the project features intense outer space battles, classic Mobile Suits familiar to enthusiasts, and introduces new pilot characters that promise to enrich the Gundam lore.
