Earlier today, the official website for Miyuki Ichijo’s agency Production Baobab announced the 76 year old actress had passed away due to multiple organ failure.
Ichijo is best known for her role as Jodie Starling from the long-running Detective Conan franchise. Ichijo is also known for such roles as Tsubasa Nishikiori from the 2009 Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact! series. In the Gundam series Ichijo portrayed Clehna Hacswell in the 1991 Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory OVA series, Roselucia Deikun in Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin OVA series and more recently as Cardo Nabo in Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury.
The official The Witch from Mercury X account posted their own announcement of Ichijo’s passing, give their condolences.
Another Gundam alum, Toshio Furukawa (Kai Shiden from various Universal Century works) wrote that he was shocked when he heard the news on his X account. Her co-star in Detective Conan, Kappei Yamaguchi also looked back on how he would always hear Ichijo’s bright laughter as they would record inside the studio.
