Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance Announced as Unreal Engine 5 Animated Project



At their industry panel at Anime Expo 2023 on Saturday, Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a new animated project, Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. The panel revealed the project is animated entirely in Epic Games‘ Unreal Engine 5.

Writer Gavan Hignight confirmed the project’s episodes are set in the Universal Century, citing Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt and Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team as influences on the project. Brosdau added in a video message that the story is told from the Principality of Zeon’s perspective, particularly from the Zaku mobile suits’ cockpits. The trailer that screened during the panel mentions the story is set “eleven months after the revolutionary war”.

Bandai Namco Filmworks

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance was one of two new Gundam trademarks filed by Bandai Namco Filmworks in May 2023 with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for the franchise, along with Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom.
