RightStuf to Release Gundam SEED Destiny Collector’s Ultra Edition Blu-ray Set

Anime publisher and retailer RightStuf announced during Virtual Crunchyroll Expo they will be releasing the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Collector’s Ultra Edition Blu-ray set.

Published by Gundam anime studio Sunrise, the Ultra Edition Blu-ray set will include episodes 1-50 of the HD TV (Remastered) series, episodes 1-50 of the original SD TV series, Episode 51 “Final Plus,” and 4 “Special Edition” movie compilations directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, as well as episodes 1-3 of the never before released OVA Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer, directed by Susumu Nishizawa.

The Ultra Edition also includes a 120-page art book featuring: Art Galleries; Data Archives on both the Characters and Mecha; Maps Depicting the Timeline of Events; an Exclusive Q&A Interview with Director Mitsuo Fukuda; and a Gundam SEED Destiny Glossary.

Directed by Mitsuo Fukuda and scripted by the late Chiaki Morosawa, RightStuf describes the SEED Destiny story as:

The year is Cosmic Era 73. The Bloody Valentine War, fought between the PLANTS space colonies and the nations of the Atlantic Federation, has ended and an uneasy truce has settled upon the Earth sphere. With the signing of the Junius Seven Treaty, the world’s soldiers have left the battlefield and the grizzly sights of war behind. Many who fought now seek peace and refuge in the shelter of civilian life.

But one boy, Shinn Asuka, is finding that incredibly hard. A coordinator who lost his entire family during the Battle of Orb, he now fights with ZAFT in one of their newest machines, the Impulse Gundam. Of course, ZAFT is only developing these machines for defensive applications – or so they claim – but when a group of Federation operatives steal some of these prototype machines, the world is once again plunged towards war.

The Ultra Edition will contain the Special Features: Interview with Director Mitsuo Fukuda and Line Producer Hiroomi Ikeya, Director’s Concept Music Videos, Textless Openings, Textless Endings, Gundam SEED Character Theater Shorts, Promotional Videos and Commercials.

The Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Collector’s Ultra Edition Blu-ray is priced at 224.99 USD and will release November 9, 2021.

Announced in May 2021, the popular Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series is celebrating its 20th anniversary with Mobile Suit Gundam SEED PROJECT ignited. The project includes a special video by director Mitsuo Fukuda for the life-size Freedom Gundam statue in Shanghai, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Eclipse manga, a new video game in development, and an anime theatrical film sequel to the SEED TV anime series.
