As the Bandai Namco Group‘s cross sectional “Gundam Project” held their “Gundam Conference Autumn 2023” to provide the latest updates on the Gundam franchise endeavors, a new trailer for the upcoming Gundam Build Metaverse was released. Along with the trailer, the cast and music artists for the series was also revealed.
The series opening theme “Hikari no Kaze” will be performed by popular Japanese rock-band BACK-ON. The group has served as recurring theme song artists for the Gundam Build series since its inception with “Nibun no Ichi” for Gundam Build Fighters in 2013. The group continued with “wimp ft. Lil’ Fang (from FAKY)” for the second cour of the series, “Cerulean” for Gundam Build Fighters Try, “The Last One” for Gundam Build Fighters Try: Island Wars and “Carry On” for Gundam Build Fighters: GM’s Counterattack.
I am KENJI03 of BACK-ON and we will be performing the opening theme for “Gundam Build Metaverse”.
This time around, we created the song with the ideas in mind of it being the tenth anniversary of the Build series, and facing new challenges, and the future to come.
We were particular about taking a different approach compared to our past works, and the song title “Hikari to Kaze” is a band concept word from the time of our formation, and I wrote the lyrics in the hopes that it would create a link with us.
I hope that they will give even a little push to everyone who listens to it.
I am looking forward to the moment when the song will be played in the series!
Please do listen to it!
Congratulations on the streaming of Gundam Build Metaverse!
As KENJI03 says, “Hikari to Kaze” was a band concept from when we formed, and with Metaverse we have a fresh start, and returning to where you started, and the joys and pains of moving towards your dreams, and I think this song flashes back to the days of your life so far and conveys those passionate feelings.
I hope that many Gundam fans will listen to this song and recall things like when they first fell in love with Gundam.
Announced in June, “Days of Birth” will be the ending theme song for Gundam Build Metaverse, by LINKL PLANET.
LINKL PLANET, also shortened to Rinpla (リンプラ), is a nine-member idol group. They are the official plastic model PR ambassadors for the business company BANDAI SPIRITS CO‘s PLAMO GIRL PROJECT, launched in 2021.
We are LINKL PLANET and we will be singing the ending theme “Days of Birth” for “Gundam Build Metaverse”! This song is about moving forward toward your dreams, much like the main character Rio does when he dives towards his aspirations into a new world and then spreads his wings to the new world and future that lies ahead. The dance choreography expresses fresh and invigorating feelings as well, so we hope all of you will dance along with us!
Dubbed “Gundam Build 10th Anniversary Dream Battle Project,” Bandai Namco announced Gundam Build Metaverse in March during their Gundam Conference Spring 2023 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Gundam Build series and as an anime tie to the Group‘s ambitious Gundam Metaverse Project. The three-episode miniseries will begin streaming on Gundam‘s official YouTube channels, Gundam Channel in Japan, and Gundam Info internationally October 6, 2023. The series is directed by renowned mecha animator Masami Obari.
A new Internet service has been born in the world of Gunpla. Within the Metaverse realm, the user can control their own avatar, interact with other users, play Gunpla Battle, and purchase actual Gunpla. Rio Hojo is a boy who has dove into this new world. Studying Gunpla building techniques in the real world with Seria Urutuski, and absorbing Gunpla Battle know-how from Mask Lady in the Metaverse world, he has been honing his skills day by day. After completing his own original Gunpla, the Lah Gundam, Rio happens to encounter some past champions of Gunpla Battle in the Metaverse realm.
