The Bandai Namco Group held their Gundam Conference Spring 2023 yesterday, presided by Chief Gundam Officer, Koji Fujiwara, outlining their upcoming plans for the Gundam franchise. The event centered on the group’s ambitious Gundam Metaverse Project, showcasing more footage of the “Gunpla Colony” 3D space and many of its features including avatar customization, E-commerce shop, Gunpla scanning, automatic translation and AI support. Set to launch in October 2023, Fujiwara emphasized the Gundam Metaverse “is integral to creating the future of Gundam.”

Fujiwara proceeded to give updates on upcoming Gundam video projects within the franchise’s 45th anniversary initiative, “Gundam NEXT FUTURE- ROAD TO 2025″, such as Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury Season 2 and the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED theatrical film, along with announcing Gundam Build Metaverse, a direct tie-in to the Gundam Metaverse.
The new three-episode series celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Gundam Build series, and will stream on Gundam‘s official YouTube channels, Gundam Channel in Japan, and Gundam Info internationally in October 2023. Fujiwara stated they are developing plans for Gunpla battle within the Gundam Metaverse.
Lastly, Fujiwara announced a continuation of their hybrid physical/digital event in collaboration with Gundam Metaverse and Build Metaverse, “GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE 2023 EAST/WEST/DIGITAL”. In event will be held October 2023 at Shinjuku Sumitomo Bldg. Sankaku Hiroba in Tokyo as GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE “EAST” and GRAND FRONT OSAKA’s Knowledge Plaza in Osaka as GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE “WEST”. The Gundam Metaverse will serve as the “Digital” venue, hosting their first XR Concert.
