Bandai Namco’s hobby business subsidiary, Bandai Spirits has released product information for the Wing Gundam appearing in the Real Grade line of Gundam model kits. The gunpla was first revealed last November during Gunpla Expo Tokyo 2020.
The XXXG-01W Wing Gundam is the titular mobile suit piloted by protagonist Heero Yuy in the 1995 New Mobile Report Gundam Wing series. The mobile suit is best known for its transformation capability into “Bird Mode”, an alternate flight form.
Various gimmicks are used to reproduce poses from the series and setting mechanisms, as well as new gimmicks based on studying real machines are condensed into 1/144 scale.
A movable gimmick is built into the shoulder and torso blocks to reproduce the dynamic stances of the Buster Rifle and Beam Saber.
Bird Mode can be achieved by rearranging parts and Action Bases can be used to display the model kit in mobile suit state or Bird Mode.
