Bandai Namco’s hobby business subsidiary, Bandai Spirits has announced the release of the XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam appearing in the High Grade After Colony line of Gundam model kits during their “Hobby Next Phase 2022 Spring” product showcase.
Designed by legendary mechanical designer Kunio Okawara, the XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam is one of the five main Gundam type mobile suits featured in the New Mobile Report Gundam Wing series, piloted by Chang Wufei.
Directed by Masashi Ikeda, then Shinji Takamatsu, the 1995 New Mobile Report Gundam Wing or Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is the second major Gundam entry not set within the franchise’s long running Universal Century timeline. Set in After Colony(AC) 195, growing tired of the oppressive ways of the United Earth Sphere Alliance and Order of the Zodiac(OZ), underground forces of the space colonies send five young pilots with advanced mobile suits to Earth in an effort to free the colonies from their grip.
The model kit accurately reproduces Shenlong’s iconic “Dragon Fang” as seen in the Wing series with a retractable arm extension.
A movable axis inside the chest block allows lateral bending and forward-backward bending. The cockpit block can be moved up and down during forward and backward bending.
The sliding mechanism of the shoulder joints improves the model’s range of motion. Combined with the movable chest, the figure can be dynamically posed.
