At SDCC 2025, Bandai Namco Filmworks shared announcements for three Gundam series during their panel, with a spotlight on New Mobile Report Gundam Wing as it celebrates its 30th anniversary. The other featured titles were Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash.
Inspired by the iconic eye catch designs from the original anime broadcast, an original illustration was revealed.
The major announcement was the release of the New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Anniversary Video -Operation 30th-, directed by Toru Iwasawa. The video features new mobile suits and characters not seen in the original anime, most of which derive from the sequel novel, New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop, and prequel manga New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Episode Zero.
Although the video was meant only to celebrate Gundam Wing media, it went viral across social media as fans began calling for a new Gundam Wing anime, either a remake but more so an anime adaptation of Frozen Teardrop, after seeing its stunning updated animation.
The closest any form of adaptation the sequel novel received was in the form of the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop Picture Drama – A New Battle, released in 2014.
When it comes to new Gundam Wing content, the series remains an evergreen title for Gunpla and figure merchandising, a trend boosted by its 30th anniversary. Bandai Namco also announced the New Mobile Report Gundam Wing 0.5: Half Preventer-7 manga series, created by longtime Wing contributors Sakura Asagi and Katsuyuki Sumisawa. The story introduces a new narrative that bridges the gap between Endless Waltz and Frozen Teardrop.
The “Gundam GWX 30th Anniversary Project” was launched earlier in April to celebrate the start of the Gundam franchise’s “alternative” series.
