The Seiyū Awards is an annual awards ceremony recognizing outstanding voice acting performance in anime and other Japanese media that began in March 2007. The event selection committee have made early announcement of select winners for the 19th iteration of the Seiyu Awards, The 19th Seiyu Awards will hold its awards ceremony on Saturday, March 15th.

Releasing in late January 2024, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom has been a massive success for the Gundam series, becoming the highest grossing Gundam film earning 5.38 billion yen, dethroning the 1982 Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space, which held the franchise box office record for forty-two years with 2.3 billion yen.
After its Special Edition Part 2 screening, Sunrise officially announced Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero, a prequel anime to the film, following Director Mitsuo Fukuda’s February 2024 tease of additional Gundam SEED Freedom content.

Soichiro Hoshi portrays the protagonist of the Mobile Gundam SEED series, Kira Yamato, and reprises the role in its sequel series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, and theatrical film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom. Hoshi has received two Anime Grand Prix Awards for his role as Kira Yamato.
