Gundam GQuuuuuuX Crosses 3 Billion Yen as it gets Amazon Prime Streaming Deal


Today Amazon Prime announced it has secured streaming to the upcoming Gundam TV series, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. The series will stream simultaneously with Japan across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on Prime Video on Tuesday, April 8th.  Subtitled and dubbed versions of episodes will be available same day as premiere with new episodes rolling out weekly.

In February, it was announced Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX will begin broadcast Tuesday at 24:29 (12:29 AM) starting April 8 on the Nippon TV network across 30 stations. The date falls one day after the broadcast debut of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series in 1979.

Amazon Prime

While GQuuuuuuX has made its TV plans, the series has enjoyed box office success with its theatrical preview. In 49 days of its release, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- has earned 3 billion yen making it the second highest-grossing Gundam movie.

Kenshi Yonezu’s “Plazma” served as the song for movie, and will continue as the theme song for the TV series.

GQuuuuuuX was announced in December during the Bandai Namco Group’s Winter Gundam 2024 Conference. Touted as the” khara x SUNRISE, a crossing of dreams,” series is the first major collaboration between Gundam studio Sunrise and Neon Genesis Evangelion studio khara.

The series is directed by FLCL and Rebuild of Evangelion director Kazuya Tsurumaki, scripted by Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno and Yoji Enokido, with character designs by take, and mechanical designs by EVA Unit designer Ikuto Yamashita.

Story

Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space.

When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.

Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.

The series depicts an alternate Universal Century in which Char Aznable steals the Earth Federation prototype RX-78-02 White Gundam changing the course of the One Year War in favor of the Principality of Zeon.
