Bandai Namco Launches Gundam Navi News App

Bandai Namco Entertainment has launched a Gundam news-based smartphone application, named “Gundam Navi App”.

The app compiles the Gundam-related news content, including anime, gunpla, games and events from official Sunrise and Bandai-Namco Group sources such as Gundam Info and Gundam Perfect Games.

Gundam Navi allows users to watch videos from the official Japanese Gundam YouTube channel, “Gundam Channel” and other Bandai Namco Group-operated YouTube channels. The app will also include a “Gundam Official Database”, offering the settings of characters and mobile suits appearing in the various Gundam anime.

With the app’s GPS check-in function, users can visit Gundam-related facilities around Japan and acquire special in-app souvenir items unique to each facility. Souvenirs can be collected and given to friends.

Users are also able to personalize their profiles with “badges” and “titles” earned by completing in-app missions.

The Gundam Navi App is available for free to download in the App Store and Google Play store, exclusive to Japan. A promotional video for the app was uploaded on Gundam Channel, featuring Shuichi Ikeda(as Char) explaining its function.

Ikeda famously portrays Char Aznable in the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam series, and reprised the role numerous times in subsequent Gundam installments, and went to play other characters in the Gundam franchise such as Full Frontal in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Gilbert Durandal in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
