Prototype GGG Gigi Andalucia Figure Revealed by MegaHouse

Toy/figure company MegaHouse has unveiled the pre-painted prototype of the upcoming Gigi Andalucia that is joining their high end Gundam figure line, Gundam Girls Generation(GGG), at their Mega Hobby Plus expo.

The figure was initially announced March 2021 at Mega Hobby’s “Special Week 2021 Winter” expo. The statuette will stand approximately 190mm but price and release date are currently undecided.

Gigi Andalucia stars as the female protagonist of the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway’s Flash film trilogy, portrayed by Reina Ueda. Disillusioned by jaded adult society, she is characterized as alluring, mysterious and highly perceptive, with a large financial backing.

Opening to 215 theaters across Japan on June 11, 2021, the inaugural entry to Shukou Murase’s Hathaway’s Flash trilogy has quickly become a blockbuster hit earning 523,943,800 yen in box office revenue with 1,537,939 yen per screen and 259,074 attendees, ranking first in the Japanese weekend box office.

As of Hathaway’s fourth week, it has exceeded 1.5 billion yen in total box office receipts, earning 1,583,779,400 yen in 24 days from June 11 to July 5, with 779,032 tickets sold, the marking the first time a Gundam entry has exceeded 1 billion yen in 33 years since the 1988 Mobile Suit Gundam Char’s Counterattack.

In twenty-four days, the Blu-ray has already sold 90,683 copies, with 52,989 units for the limited edition and 37,694 for the regular edition in theaters.

While the film is screening in Japan, streaming giant Netflix announced they were exclusively releasing the Hathaway film July 1 internationally during their “Geeked Week” event. The film is dubbed with eight language options and thirty subtitled language options, available to 190 countries worldwide.

Billed as the official sequel to Char’s Counterattack, the Hathaway film project was announced in November 2018 to celebrate the Gundam 40th anniversary, adapting the Yoshiyuki Tomino-penned novel series of the same name. The novels were originally released from 1989 to 1990, as a follow-up to Tomino’s Char’s Counterattack: Beltorchika’s Children novel, published by Kadokawa’s Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint.
