Both Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Theme Songs Top on Billboard Japan

Continuing the momentum of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom‘s success, its main theme song “Freedom” has earned the #1 spot on Billboard Japan‘s Top 10 for Downloaded Songs, with 16,718 downloads. The film’s ending theme song “Sarigiwa no Romantics,” performed by See-Saw, charted #3 with 12,378 downloads. “Freedom” also charted #7 on Billboard Japan‘s Hot Animation category.

“Freedom” is performed by Takanori Nishikawa with Tetsuya Komuro (stylized as t.komuro). Takanori Nishikawa has become synonymous with the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series, performing multiple theme songs throughout its installments under his former stage name T.M.Revolution, such as “INVOKE,” “ignited,” “Meteor,” and “vestige”. Tetsuya Komura is a founding member of TM Network, who performed the iconic “Beyond the Time” for the 1988 Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack film.

See-Saw, consisting of Chiaki Ishikawa and Yuki Kajiura, previously performed the first ending theme “Anna ni Issho Datta no ni” for the 2002 Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series,  as well as the final ending theme “Kimi wa Boku ni Niteiru” for the 2004 Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny sequel series.

Coincidentally, Kenichi Suzumura (who plays Shinn Asuka in the Gundam SEED series)’s “Back With a Bang! Bang Bravern,” the theme song to Bang Brave Bang Bravern, charted at #8 with 5,935 downloads.
