Gundam the Witch from Mercury Prequel Novel ‘Cradle Planet’ Officially Released in English

The official website for the Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury TV anime has released the English version of the series accompanying novel, Cradle Planet. Authored by series head writer, Ichiro Ohkouchi, the novel was penned for the opening theme song “The Blessing” by YOASOBI.

The novel takes place after the tragic events of the Prologue episode, detailing Suletta and her mother Elnora’s new lives as they struggle to adapt on the distant planet Mercury. Interestingly, the story is told from the perspective of Suletta’s mobile suit, XVX-016 Gundam Aerial, as if it is a sentient being. The novel serves to bridge the time gap between the Prologue and the main TV series, establishing Elnora’s plot for revenge against Benerit Group and Cathedra leader, Delling Rembran, using her daughter and Aerial by sending them to the Asticassia School of Technology.

Key Visual

Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury is directed by Kiznaiver‘s Hiroshi Koyabashi, and penned by Code Geass scribe, Ichiro Ohkouchi. The tagline of the series is “This witch…rides a Gundam”. The series began broadcast October 2, 2022 on twenty-eight of MBS and TBS TV networks on their 5pm “Nichigo” anime block, as well as simulcasted internationally.  The Bandai Namco Group announced late September at their Gundam Conference Autumn 2022 that the Witch from Mercury‘s first cour broadcast will be completed in December and the series will resume with its second cour in April 2023.
