Bandai Namco Entertainment (Shanghai) attended ChinaJoy 2023, China’s largest gaming and digital entertainment expo, to unveil Gundam: Poetry of Steel. Poetry of Steel is a new mobile game set to release in China first in 2023.
Bandai‘s Gundam booth displayed three large statues featuring the RX-78 Gundam, GAT-X105 Strike Gundam, and XVX-016 Gundam Aerial, with another exhibit detailing the past and future of the Gundam SEED series in preparation for the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom film.
In the game, players act as a commander of their own elite squad of mobile suits, combining their unique strengths with smart tactics and strategy to overwhelm the opponent with minimal losses. The game will feature a complex AI system, and also allow for single-player and multi-player battles.

One of the major selling points is that the game is rendered entirely in 3D, in contrast to many other G-Generation or SD Gundam strategy games which combine a mix of 2D and 3D visuals models when animating the action. The game also features a model inspection mechanic that lets you check out each mobile suit in extreme detail from polish of its chassis and more.
The game will include a collection of story lines from several Gundam series, letting players recreate the most iconic moments of each character from the protagonists’ awakening to piloting a mobile suit, to the shocking realities of war, and the brutal clashes they have to undergo. To help make these moments feel even more authentic, Bandai Namco invited the voice actors of each of these series to redub their iconic lines for action sequences, such as Toru Furuya as Amuro Ray, Shuichi Ikdea as Char Aznable, Nobuo Tobita as Kamille Bidan, Kazuki Yao as Judau Ashta, Sōichirō Hoshi as Kira Yamato, Akira Ishida as Athrun Zala, and Mamoru Miyano as Setsuna F. Seiei.
