Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced the termination of service for their ambitious FPS(First-Person Shooter) title, Gundam Evolution. The game’s service will end November 29, 2023, just over a year after its initial launch in September 2022.
Gundam Evolution‘s executive producer Kazuya Maruyama wrote in the announcement,
It is with great sadness that we are announcing the conclusion of GUNDAM EVOLUTION.
The game’s service will end on November 29, 2023 (PST).
We wanted to create a title that brought FPS fans and Gundam fans together. We challenged ourselves to create an authentic Gundam FPS game that could be played globally.
Unfortunately, we have determined that it is no longer possible for us to provide a service that satisfies our players.
We want to express our gratitude to everyone who has played the game and supported us to this point. At the same time, we would like to sincerely apologize to our fans and players.
Though the service is ending, updates will continue to roll out with Season 6 (adding a new unit and two maps) on August 23 (PDT) and the final season (adding a new unit and a map) on October 25.
Bandai Namco announced Gundam Evolution in July 2021 as an online free-to-play FPS title that lets players experience speedy and immersive team battles by piloting mobile suits from the popular Gundam anime series. Players can make full use of mobile suits with unique abilities, switching between them according to the battle situation. The game features intuitive controls with an unique boost system, and allows players to play 6 vs. 6 battles with multiple different battle rules and maps.
The termination of Gundam Evolution marks the second major cancellation of a Gundam live-service game in the same year, with Gundam Breaker Mobile ending its service in June.
