Known for his comedy-ecchi works, in October 2020 mangaka Masakazu Iwasaki announced he was penning a new manga series for Gundam Ace, the official Kadokawa-published monthly Gundam manga magazine, titled Arasa OL Haman-sama(or Around Thirty Office Worker Haman-sama). As the title suggests, the manga reimagines the popular Universal Century Gundam antagonist Haman Karn as a thirty year old officer worker, along with many of the characters that appear in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and its sequel Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ.
OL Haman-sama is a slice of life story following Haman Karn as a high-level executive of the “Neo Zeon” apparel company, and the comedic misadventures of a Gundam-inspired office setting.
A group of Japanese cosplayers were inspired by the unique, whimsical Gundam manga and collaborated to recreate the fun of the series.

Iwasaki’s OL Haman-sama manga is presently on its second volume, serialized in Gundam Ace.
Haman Karn first appeared in the 1985 Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam series as a secondary antagonist and regent of the Neo Zeon faction. She would be promoted to main antagonist in the sequel series Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ the following year. Haman has since become a popular and enduring figure in the Gundam franchise and among fans, characterized by her cold, ruthless nature and troubled relationship with Char Aznable. Details of her origin and this relationship would be expounded in the 2001-2009 manga Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Deleted Affair [C.D.A] ~ Portrait of a Young Comet by Hiroyuki Kitazume.
