Unicorn Gundam and Freedom Gundam Protect Odaiba in new WALL-G Video

“MidNight CHA CHA” is the latest video in the WALL-G series that began screening at the life-sized RX-0 Unicorn Gundam statue at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza’s Festival Plaza in Odaiba, Tokyo on March 18 at 19:00 JST.

Set at night in Odaiba, the video depicts the Unicorn Gundam facing off against the AMA-X7 Shamblo, while the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam from Shanghai also joins the fight.
Kayak Akiba Studio is in charge of the 3DCG production for the video, and the effects, beams, thrusters, and battle damage are all created and reproduced with CG. Kayak Akiba Studio previously cooperated in the production of CG cuts for the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash anime film.

The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam statue was erected in 2017 at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza based on the titular mobile suit from the 2010 Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn anime series. Unicorn adapted the bestselling novel of the same name into a seven-part OVA(original video animation) series directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi and scripted by Yasuyuki Muto. The novel was published by Kadokawa Shoten from 2007 to 2009, penned by Harutoshi Fukui with character designs by celebrated animator Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and mechanical designs by Hajime Katoki.

The Freedom Gundam statue is the first life-size Gundam statue to be built overseas, and was erected at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Shanghai Jinqiao in Shanghai, China in 2021. The announcement of the statue’s construction was made July 2020 a part of an overseas expansion project. The ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam is the second mobile suit piloted by protagonist Kira Yamato in the 2002 Mitsuo Fukuda-directed Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series.
