Net Buzzwords 100 Announces 2025 Nominees: GQuuuuuuX Takes 20 Percent of All Entries

Dwango Co., Ltd. and Pixiv Inc. announced on November 20 that they will once again host Net Buzzwords 100, a joint annual project that identifies the most influential internet terms of the year. The companies released this year’s 100 nominated words, selected using access data from their services Nico Nico Pedia and the Pixiv Encyclopedia. The awards ceremony, which will invite guests connected to the winning terms, will be streamed live on Nico Nico Live on December 11 at 19:00. Last year’s winners included Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, Ebi Mome, Blue Archive, and Favorite Side Dish Announcement Dragon.

As in previous years, the lineup showcases a wide range of internet culture, with terms pulled from popular anime, tokusatsu, video games, and viral memes. Among these, anime once again holds a strong presence.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX stands out in particular. Thanks in part to the buzz surrounding its advance theatrical screenings and ongoing TV broadcast, the series accounts for 20 out of the 100 nominations—including character names, mobile suit names, and the title itself. Nearly an entire fifth of all nominated terms are tied to the series, an unusually dominant showing for a single franchise.
