As Bandai Namco Entertainment prepares for its upcoming, long-awaited launch of Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. ENGAGE, Gundam Info the official international YouTube channel has published a special documentary about the production behind the Mobile Suit Moon Gundam adaptation.
In the short documentary, the lauded Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn creator Harutoshi Fukui talks about the purpose behind creating Moon Gundam and the difficulties with maintaining consistency within Gundam‘s long-running Universal Century timeline, describing the process as writing historical novels.
Mobile Suit Moon Gundam began serialization August 2017 in Gundam Ace, published by Kadokawa. The manga is penned by Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative‘s Harutoshi Fukui, with art by Takayuki Kosai and mechanical design by Ippei Gyoubu. Set in U.C.0092, within the forgotten colony of Moon Moon, originally depicted in the 1986 Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ series, this ambitious work covers an untouched gap of the Universal Century between Gundam ZZ and Mobile Suit Gundam Char’s Counterattack. The story follows Moon Moon Light Tribe member Jutta Qasim and the hostilities between the Earth Federation’s Londo Bell and Neo Zeon arriving at the doors of the Moon Moon colony.
Moon Gundam was animated for the first time in the Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. ENGAGE mobile app, complete with a full voice cast.
In August, Bandai Namco Entertainment officially announced to launch their Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. ENGAGE mobile game internationally with an English and Chinese release.
U.C. ENGAGE is a free-to-play war strategy game that allows users to play through all of Gundam‘s Universal Century works, combining animation with game play. Players can experience Universal Century battlefields firsthand through simple controls and auto-play in powerful 6 vs. 6 battles with realistic 3D mobile suits. The game features many new Universal Century storylines such as 0079 Gibraltar, 0079 Nightmare of Solomon, Mobile Suit Moon Gundam and more.
