Gundam the Witch from Mercury Novelization Volume 1 Releasing in February



Japanese publishing giant Kadokawa has announced the release date for volume one of the novelization for Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury, along with unveiling its cover artwork by series concept artist Lin Junbun.

The novelization of the new Gundam TV anime was announced October 2022, penned by the series science-fiction researcher Yuya Takashima. The novel began serialization the following November in the January 2023 issue of the Kadokawa-published official Gundam manga magazine, Gundam Ace. The novel is stated to feature details and “original episodes” not seen in the anime, with new characters.

The novel’s first volume will be 280 pages and releasing February 25, 2023, priced at 792 yen.

After a rather bloody finale, Sunrise and the Bandai Namco Group‘s Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury completed its twelve episode first season and will resume with Season 2 in April 2023.

According to the home video release schedule on the series official website, the Witch from Mercury is currently listed to run for a total of twenty-four episodes across two seasons. With the completion of G Witch‘s first season, from January to March, TV editions of Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt and Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative will air in its 5pm time-slot.

The Witch from Mercury will release its first Blu-ray/DVD set March 24, 2023, featuring packaging and jacket artwork by character designer Mogumo and mechanical designer JNTHED.

Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury is directed by Kiznaiver‘s Hiroshi Koyabashi, and penned by Code Geass scribe, Ichiro Ohkouchi. The tagline of the series is “This witch…rides a Gundam”. The series began broadcast October 2, 2022 on twenty-eight of MBS and TBS TV networks on their 5pm “Nichigo” anime block, as well as simulcasted internationally. The series was touted as the first mainline Gundam TV installment in seven years since the 2015 Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.
