Gundam Café to Shutter All Operations by March 2022

The official Gundam Café website recently posted a notice of closing. The restaurant chain did not specify a reason for the closures.

The closures will begin with the Gundam Square Osaka location on January 10, 2022, followed by the TOKYO BRAND CORE location in Akihabara along with the Odaiba and Fukuoka sites closing on January 30, 2022.

Gundam Café Yokohama Satellite location will remain open as a limited-time attraction a part of Gundam Factory Yokohama, that itself will close on March 31, 2022. The Gundam Café online web store will cease operations the same day.

The first Gundam Café opened in Akihabara, Tokyo, in April 2010 as an officially branded restaurant providing food, drinks and an atmosphere themed after the Gundam anime franchise. The eatery then evolved into a chain with multiple facilities, events, and anime screenings.

In the closing announcement, the chain expressed their gratitude towards their guests for the continued support over the years, while urging them to check back soon and to look forward to “new projects” in the future.
