Gundam, Anime Voice Actor Billy Kametz Passes Away at 35

Prolific young voice actor Billy Kametz has passed away at the age of 35, due to complications with stage IV colon cancer. The actor revealed his diagnosis in late April via YouTube where he gave an upbeat, yet saddening update about his health, asking fans and friends not to worry.

Kametz’s passing was first reported June 11, but his death was confirmed to be on June 9 by his obituary. A GoFund Me campaign was launched quickly after his diagnosis with all proceeds going to the actor’s treatment such as travel expenditures, insurance costs, medical bills not covered by insurance, and other necessities. With his passing, the organizers of the campaign announced the remaining funds will go to the actor’s funeral and celebrating his life.

Kametz is best known for his various leading anime roles such as Josuke Higashikata in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of The Shield Hero, Galo in Promare, White Blood Cell in Cells at Work!, and Hiroto Kuga in Gundam Build Divers: Re Rise.
