Rock band LUNA SEA will perform the opening theme song for the TV cut of Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN.

Based on the six Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN installments that screened from 2015 through 2018, a 13 episode TV series was re-edited and will be broadcast starting April 29, 2019 on NHK General. LUNA SEA will be performing the opening theme song “Sora no Uta ~ Higher and Higher ~”. SUGIZO, who is handling the 40th anniversary project theme song, will also be producing the opening and ending songs.

Beginning with a tragic past, this is the story of two siblings- the ace pilot of the Principality of Zeon, the “Red Comet” Char Aznable and his sister Sayla Mass.  The work depicts the background of the Zabi Family’s rise to power in Side 3, and Zeon ace pilots who fought in the One Year War such as Ramba Ral and the Black Tri-Stars.  This is the untold story of the development of the human-powered weapon “Mobile Suits” that changed the face of war dramatically, and Zeon’s conflict with the Earth Federation Forces ultimately leading to the One Year War.
