Kanetake Ebikawa served as mechanical designer for the 2011-2012 Mobile Suit Gundam AGE series. Featured in his art book Kanetake Ebikawa Design Works were a collection of his design contributions to such works as Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Gundam Build Fighters, Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans,  Fullmetal Panic! Series and Eureka Seven AO.

The book also included a few early drafts for the titular RX-78-2 inspired Gundam mobile suit, Gundam AGE 1, its initial forms and the Nu Gundam inspired Gundam AGE-FX.

Ebikawa spoke with Forbes’s Ollie Barder briefly about his design experiences for the AGE series in an interview on his “minimalist elegance” approach to mechanical design.

When it comes to the various Gundam series I was involved with, I don't mean to sound like a nice guy here but everything I worked on I tried my best and as such, I can say I like everything I have designed for those anime. . . With Gundam AGE, since most of the mecha on the protagonist’s side were assigned to me, I was able to design them by considering coherency among them and adjusting their overall looks. There were some restrictions due to toy merchandising, but I think I was able to finish them up well.
